I cant upgrade using the snow leopard disc i bought any suggestions as to why this is happenning?

Hello, is this the Retail Disc, or a Gray Machine specific Disc?
Does it meet the 10.6 requirements?

I bought the snow leopard disc to upgrade my macbook from 10.58 ... i inserted the disc but it will not let me on to the next page.. what could be the problem
