how can i download my pictures from iphone to my pc?

I have tried this method and it takes about 45 minutes to load one picture. I have about 480 pictures so obviously that's a small problem... Suggestions please?!

In the past I have been able to do it, but now when plug Iphone in PC it just goes to Itunes music, movies, tv, etc. it will not import pics and I cannot locate a way to get out of Itunes to import my pics.
