I was looking to buy the new macbook air 13 inch. I was wondering if i could upgrade the ram after the fact or if it was like the previous generation and sodered in place, forcing me to upgrade at sale.

RAM is not upgradeable.
You cannot upgrade after purchase as all MacBook Airs get their slim form factor by soldering the components to the logic board.
It can be configured at the time of purchase. It can not be changed after purchase.
Is the new MacBook Air's RAM upgradable?
