Windows contacts will not sync to iphone through itunes. Been through three hours of Geek Squad and tried most of the above suggestions. Itunes says it is syncing, and shows backups, but the contacts on my iphone are not being updated. Geek Squad gave up.

Itunes is not syncing Windows contacts with my iphone. It shows that it is, and shows backups, but the contacts are not syncing with the phone. Also - the phone does not display "sync in process" during this time. Have now spent 3 hours with Geek Squad who gave up. Have all software up to date. Tried the sync reset, one-way sync, etc but the phone does not seem to be repsponding - an ideas?

Does phone sync everything else?

Did you turn contacts in icloud to OFF?

Did you try to restore phone and check sync?

Did you eliminate computer as a problem by sync in Apple store with another computer?

Did you (that is going to be a funny one) really give the phone to genius to work with or just told him fix it, but I do not want you to do anything and lose any info?

I can continue with funny questions, but why don't we answer these first.

Thank you for your reply. I realy have nothing else to sync - no music. Emails do work so its just my contacts I am concerned about. I'm kinda new at this but have a working understanding of the system.

I have an icloud account but the Geek Squad went there and tried but could not export contacts. I truly am not that good re icloud. They worked exclusively with my itunes, re-downloading, etc - all of the stuff in their book.

I have not tried a complete restore because I am not sure I am that good with the equipment but could. I did all of the stuff on the help page - sync reset, forced one-way sync etc but the phone just does not seem to recognize the sync. I have not gone to an Apple store to have them have a look - that may be my next step to hook up to another itunes computer. It seems simple to me - it was working fine until maybe 3 months ago - probably when there was an update. Its telling to me that the phone does not tell me there is a sync in process while itunes is saying there is - its just not biting between the 2.

I appreciate any hep - and I said, I not stupidi about these things but have kind of reached as far as I am comfortable with fear of doing something really wrong.

Thank you for your patience. After a bit of playing around I discovered that the mail account on the iphone did not have "contacts" turned on. I deleted all contacts on the iphone, turned on contacts, and my contacts populated correctly from my Yahoo account. Simple, but not anything I read anywhere regarding my problem. I am all fixed, again thanks for your patience.

I am very, very happy for you. Good job, you actually solved it and did it yourself. Me or Geeksquad or geniuses didn't stand a chance, but you did it. Next time do try to remember that your contacts are yahoo contacts. Not Windows contacts or icloud. That is what originally caused a problem. If at any point you mentioned to anyone, that those are "yahoo contacts", your life would be so much easier now. That is the kind of contacts that can only be populated with setting up an account. Not only it is not going to help you to use itunes(as you have tried) or cloud, it is not an actual sync. Sync would mean if you add contact on your computer and then check your phone, that contact will come over. Not going to happen, but only one time it will move to your phone-when you turn that switch.

Once again - nicely done!
