My iTunes icon is on my desktop but no longer in applications. How do I get it back in applications and have it in both places at the same time?

iMac (21.5-inch Mid 2010), Mac OS X (10.6.8)

iTunes should be kept in the Applications folder so future updates can find it. Drag and drop it back in there. Or, alternatively, click on it. Press command-c (copy). Then click on the Applications folder. Then press option-command-v (move/paste).

To have an iTunes icon on the desktop you should make an alias to iTunes and put that on the desktop (via drag and drop). (Make an alias by control-clicking on the icon and selecting "Make Alias").
