Jun 14, 2013 9:12 AM in response to jimsullyby Tesserax,Try as I might, including searching Pioneer's support site, I could not find a Pioneer VSX-138 A/V receiver. Are you sure that is the correct model number. All I can find is remote controls with this.

Jun 14, 2013 10:01 AM in response to jimsullyby stevefromgladstone,Which airport express do you own? The older ones have an audio jack, that also doubles as an optical, so you connect it into your optical port with a toslink cable or into your component red and white inputs with an adapter from 1/8" plug to rca jacks.

Jun 14, 2013 12:11 PM in response to jimsullyby Tesserax,NP. Just wanted to be sure I can provide you with useful advice.
The VSX-821 sports both analog and digital inputs. Either can be used with the AirPort Express. I would recommend using a digital optical cable between the Express' audio output port and the Pioneer's digital optical input port.
The Express's audio port requires a 3.5mm TOSlink digital optical connector.
