iPhone automatically applying changes to song information?

Hi Guys

I have an iPhone 5 and am using my Windows 7 laptop to sync. When I update song information on my laptop, say, the genre of an album, this doesn't change on my iPhone when I sync it. Is there an automatic way of doing this? Or do I have to manually copy across the songs which I have changed information about?
