MacBook Air ordered on Monday, status: Cancelled - Replaced with a new product

I ordered my first MacBook Air at Apple's online store on monday, just after it's been released. Until now, the order status was "Processing items", but when I checked the order status page a few moments ago, a new box appeared with the title "Cancelled - Replaced with a new product".User uploaded file

Does anybody know what this new status means? I've never ordered anything at Apple so I don't know what I should do now.

Regards

At the very top, the status is still "Processing items", so your order is in process.

I suggest you click on "Show Configuration Details" on both the top (original) and second (new product) line. My guess is that the top row had some information from the previous version MacBook Air, and the order was simply updated to include the newest hardware announced Monday.

Anyway, your order is still in process.

I'm just spitballing here but, evidently, Apple is giving you the newer model computer, exactly as the notification reads. You can always call Apple, and ask for a clarification. As another poster noted, you can always cancel your order, wait a few days, and then reorder the newer model.

I had the same notice on Friday after placing my order on Monday evening.

I waited until a couple of hours after the keynote at wwdc. The store had shut down so you couldn't order anything until after the keynote anyway. I had been waiting for the new model and saw the new air with the new haswell chips. Configured my order and thought nothing more until late yesterday evening when I had the same message appear on my order as leolabs.

I spoke to the customer service person this morning and was told nothing useful. Now I have an updated dispatch day. It's not too much of a delay - a couple of days - but annoying considering I placed my order for the new model only hours after it's release. If they've got massive order backlogs because of the launch of the new product they should say so and if they've screwed up my order they should say so and apologise, but they shouldn't use this message when it doesn't make sense - they're not replacing anything- I order the new product! it just worries people about whether they'll get their orders or not!

It sounds like you did the same leolabs.

Anyway, hopefully we'll both get the products we ordered without too much delay.

Hi Leo,

Thanks for the update. My status just went back to normal too. No shipping notification yet but my delivery estimate is still the same despite the delay email I referred to earlier (18-20 June! - Shipping is Ireland - UK so I'm not hopeful it will fulfil in original time scale).

I'll update when it ships and if it arrives within original delivery estimate.
