Need to open iMac, and separate screen guard

It may sound kinda silly, but its a serious problem...

I have an humongous ant stuck between the the outer panel of the mac and the actual screen inside....

Is it possible to open the mac and get it out... It crawls all over the mac.

iMac (21.5-inch Mid 2011), OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2)

Yes it will work - I've taken the screen off mine several times using the method shown in the video (I've got a late 2009 which looks the same as the 2011's). Be aware that the magnetic pull is very strong when reseating the screen (which is easy because it has guide pins). As you get to about an inch or so away from closing it at the top be prepared for the strong pull. I just tuck the tip of my finger in at the top to stop it slamming shut, as it were.

I'd suggest you do this with the Mac turned off and unplugged.
