Q: Power book G4 Leopard 10.5.8. File sharing preference checked but not working after start up until unchecked and the rechecked?
I hope the title is enough info, please ask. In the mean time I have created an applescript to open preferences/ sharing and uncheck then check the file sharing box. This works but I would obviously prefer it just work normally. I have no corrupt preference files. Perhaps a file is missing? Thank you.
PowerBook, Mac OS X (10.5.8), G4 Aluminium (Aluminum if you must)

From your text I would say yes we are on the same page ie: System Preferences/Sharing. Below your computer name on the left hand side you should see a box with a list of "Services' you can turn on and off by clicking in the small square. This is what I refer to in my Question.
However, coincidently your reply arrived just as I had solved the problem and preparing to answer my own question on Apple Support.
I am now not surpised that no has responded save yourself as the answer relates to a maintenence appllication I purchased called "Mac Tune up for Tiger and Leopard". Inside this there is a optimization tab which includes "network optimization". I have never used this part but on inspection it seems to default to setting the modem type to "Mode/ISDN" my modem is "ADSL" and once I corrected this everything went back to behaving as it should. So there's the solution for what it's worth. Obviously only usefull to users with the exact same Application/System/Problem. Well even if I help only one person I can die happy.
