I can't type directly into a pages document

I can no longer just open a new page in pages and begin typing. There is no curser. I have to add a text box to type. How can I fix this?

Hi Sammy,

I suspect that you have opened a Page Layout template from Template Chooser. Try opening a blank Word Processing template. It will open as new Word Processing document. Type away to your heart's content. A new page will be added automatically when the content exceeds one page. No need to add text boxes.

In Pages > Preferences > General > For New Documents > Use Template

then specify a Word Processing template (for example Blank) or maybe a custom Template that you saved under My Templates.

Regards,

Ian.
