Your having trouble installing iTunes or Quicktime. Let me ask you something. Is this computer maybe a few years old and has had several administrator accounts and perhaps versions of QuickTime installed to it in the past? So I don't think the error 46 is much of a issue. But I know we need to get the computer clean and be sure your user account is an administrator
Download was fine. I rec'd error when trying to launch. My machine is less than a year old.
NYCGeordie, take a look at this link and also click on the link research gerger hopefully it might help with the error 46
Thanks but the solution is fairly old and for Windows XP. I'm on Win7.
OK I see it's for XP. I've never had the error 46. But where the solution is referring to user accounts and permissions and registry permissions perhaps you can take ownership? Are there different user accounts on the computer?
Or I would try uninstalling QT, including left behind folders and files. Then remove any windows msi files pertaining to QT. Then everything pertaining to QT in the registry. That should clean up the computer and install a new version of QT
Thanks for the input and offer to help but I would have thought that a mature app such as QT would either work as expected or at least wouldn't require such a complicated solution. Given the number of times I need QT I think I'll just take a pass as it really isn't worth the time needed to fix.
Thanks again.
It works as expected I've installed QuickTime on at least 20 computers in the past year or so.
I'm overjoyed for you.
I'll help you if you want. It's not as hard to do as it sounds, the registry would take the most time
