Server 10.5.8 hangs at login - SQLlite error

We have a 10.5.8 server that is running AFP and SMB shares. Recently it has started disallowing AFP connections about once a week or two.

Today it did it again and I rebooted the server. Now when I try to login to the server itself as the local admin, it hangs at login. (I'm connecting remotely via ARD) I've tried rebooting it 5 times via LOM and it hangs at login every time. It is however successfully serving its AFP/SMB shares.

Using Server Admin to connect remotely works and I see this in the server's system log:

Trying to connect with Workgroup Manager fails with this error, and Workgroup Manager then crashes:

Error of type eMemoryAllocError (-14901) on line 401 of /SourceCache/WorkgroupManager/WorkgroupManager-319.2.2/DirNodeRefController.m

Error of type eMemoryAllocError (-14901) on line 4690 of /SourceCache/WorkgroupManager/WorkgroupManager-319.2.2/PMMUGSearchController.mm

Any idea what's causing it to not successfully login a local admin?

What are the SQLite errors and why is the path pointing to the local admin user Download folder?

I can connect remotely with SSH. If I run "diskutil repairPermissions /" it works but finishes in about 1 or 2 seconds, which is unusual.

Thanks!

A log file had filled up and left no free space on the server OS drive. I had to connect remotely with SSH and move the log to a different hard drive. This freed up enough space that logging in was successfuly.
