How to tell if song is in a playlist?

Running iTunes 11.0.4.4 on Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit. I'm cleaning up some duplicate songs and just realized that some of them I deleted were in a playlist.

When in iTunes, and you are in the main window and have clicked on "Songs" to list all the songs, is there any way to tell if a particular song is in a playlist? I don't see this information when I right-click and select "Get Info". Also, I don't see a playlist column that can be added to the song list.

Am I missing something obvious?

I can write a script to fill a column with data, you just need a suitable column. Depending on the way you tag things Grouping is often free, although personally I use it as a tag field for my smart playlists. If you want I can write a script that will loop through all visible or selected tracks, count the number of non-smart playlists they each belong to and put that number into a field of your choice. Alternatively, if the number of playlists that each might belong to and the length of the playlist names isn't excessive I could get it to copy in the playlist names instead. The grouping field is limited to 255 characters.

A very generous offer indeed! Of course, there is no rush, but a script to loop through all visible tracks and just give a count of non-smart playlists would be perfect. I really wouldn't need to know the individual playlists each song was in, but just to know if it is in any playlist would be perfect.

I don't understand what you mean by "a suitable column". I guess its time for me to get the cobwebs out of my head and go start playing with scripts again.

Much appreciated!
