Q: sending tracks from iTunes to another recipient other than the purchaser

I bought a song from iTunes for a friend of mine on my Windows phone; is there any way that I could have sent that song directly to their iPhone or email without having to receive the download myself, which then needed to be uploaded to a social network site or attached to a text message for them to receive it?

any help on this would be greatly appreciated
