I opened the cover to my new wireless mouse to see how many batteries were in there-- and now I can't get the cover to go back on! It seems ill-designed Suggestions?

Q: replace battery
Make sure that the mouse is turned off, then insert the cover on the switch side frist. Then let the other side click into place.
