iphone 5 won't save dates in calendar after 1 month but they still remain on calendar mac desktop

My iphone 5, ipad and mac desktop all have icloud active. Iphone and ipad wont save events after a month has gone by, but the events remain on the mac. I would like to make it so these dates remain permanently on all 3 devices. On the mac Preference -advanced - no check mark next to "delete events after 30 days". How do i make it so the ipad and iphone retain the events?
