Something's up with my Safari browser, where I no longer have the ability to quit Safari in order to upgrade my laptop. Also, I no longer have the "x" on each individual tab to close them. Help?

If you can't quit normally - does Force Quit (from the apple menu, or Command - Option - Esc) work & at least allow you to update ?.
