Q: how can I gift a song to a friend?

How do I gift a song to a friend??? I don't want to buy a gift card. I just want to buy and send a song.

iPhone 4S, iOS 6.1.3

As KP notes, on the iPad/iPhone, you can only gift a full album

 

To gift a single song, use iTunes on a Mac or PC, and click the triangle to the right of the price, as shown:

    You should be able to do it from within the store - not sure whether you can gift an individual song from the iTunes store app on your iPhone (you can gift albums on iOS devices) or whether you will need to do it via the store on your computer's iTunes (so you gift the song direct to your friend, you don't buy iy for yourself and then gift it)
