apple tv transfer to itunes account

i have apple tv and i have bought tv shows and movies on there. they do not appear in my itunes account on my mac. i have home sharign switched on. does any one know how to access the apple tv account from the mac as i wish to download on to my ipad so i can wathc whilst travelling
