I am trying to reinstall Photoshop Elements 10 after a hard drive failure. When I try and run the software I receive the following message "This programme cannot be run in Dos mode" There are lots of references on the web but none seem to solve it.

Thanks very much, it was a 3 disk program and I must admit I just saw Disk 1 of 3 and on closer inspection disk 1+2 are for windows install and disk 3 is for Mac. Thanks again the old eyes aren't what they used to be.
Sounds like a malfunctioning program or installer.
DOS stands for Disk Operating System and it's a pre-Windows PC version that might have ran under later Windows versions in "DOS Mode" I think it was for increased performance or something.
Anyway Mac's use Intel processors now, so it appears that legacy code has popped up somehow, like the installer misread it's on OS X.
All I can suggest since it's Adobe's software is to consult on their forums. 🙂
Hi. I believe the DVD for Elements 10 was a dual Operating System (Windows/Mac) type. You may be trying to use the Windows portion, try looking for a different file/folder on the DVD that may Indictate it is for Mac. (APP or PKG file).
