Receiving US number's imessages to international number?

Hi all,

Haven't been able to find anything on this. I have an iPhone 4s which I had been using to iMessage over wifi with my friends while I'm in China (took out my Verizon sim card). I got an international (China Mobile) SIM card today after unlocking w/ verizon, etc. But now my old number is not "registered" with iMessage (I checked this in messages on my macbook) and changing my number in my phone isn't helping.

Is there a way that I can readd my US number so that when people iMessage my US phone number it goes to my iPhone which is now a different, international number?

My Apple ID still has my old number registered in it, but the Messages settings in my phone show the new international number without a means to add my old number. I'd rather use my US number over my Chinese phone number if theres a way that I can set it back to that number.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

that makes sense, but if i had set up my iphone when it was connected with a US number to use my apple ID, shouldn't there be some sort of workaround so that messages sent to my US number that go to my emails connected with the Apple ID for imessage go to imessage on the chinese sim card? or is there even just a way I can get the messages to continue to go to the Messages app on my macbook? I tried sending messages to my US number both from my phone and from messages (from one of the email accounts associated). Not registered/not delivered.

after doing some research and seeing that 2 numbers were possible before iOS 6, i understand that the old messages aren't delivered to prevent lost/stolen/whatever iPhones from continuing to receive messages meant for an old number. but you'd think i could keep the US number and somehow forward it to Messages on my mac or to an email associated with my Apple ID and thus to my international sim iPhone...right?

The only thing that you could try is using call forwarding on your iPhone and setting it up so that your US number gets forwarded to your new Chinese sim card number, so that anyone who calls your US number will be forwarded to your Chinese number.

If that does not work, then I really don't think that there is anything that you can do, until you return to the US and take your Chinese sim card out and start using your phone on CDMA again.
