How do I pull the battery out of my iPhone 5S

Not a new device.  I just get the Apple icon on the phone. Can't do anything with it. Computer won't connect as it wants a response from the phone, which is impossible.

You do not - in essence if you open the phone you void whatever warranty you have from Apple - this is not like a blackberry or some of the Android phones - what you can do is just let the battery completely run down - which is the nearest equivalent to removing the battery.
