I cracked my screen when I pushed it back

So my laptop is 6 months old and the other day it cracked! I put my thumb on the side of the screen and pushed it back a little and it cracked where my thumb was! Is this covered under warranty? Please, please, please say yes...

You will just have to wait and see what the Apple genius bar staff says, approach them in a calm way ready to discuss the problem so they don't get defensive right away. Pushing on the glass that reulsts in damage is usually considered accidental damage and not a manufacturing defect, unless it is clear the screen was not properly seated in the frame...so see what the techs say and work with them on it. If you are not happy with the answer, you can always ask to speak with someone higher up, like the store manager, and see if they can do anything for you.

Never did I say you abused your screen. I said it could be looked at, construed, as abusive treatment. It is up to the apple genius you talk to.

Abusive treatment!!! Thats just ridiculous. I lightly pushed my screen back, from about halfway up the black border, like half an inch and a massive crack happened. I will be very unhappy if Apple doesn't agree to fix this. I am going into the store tomorrow.

Well, you have to think about it from everyone else's point of view. Lightly pushing on the screen as you describe shouldn't cause a crack. Although it's always possible your machine had some kind of manufacturing defect, that's pretty uncommon and this would be an odd way for that to manifest, so it's far more likely that the machine has been mishandled somehow. Most likely, this won't be fixed for free. But only Apple can really say for sure, all the rest of us can do is speculate.
