In iTunes 11, when looking at albums for a specific artist in the iTunes Store, I can't seem to locate how to sort by the album release date, even when using the column browser. When I click on "Show View Options", nothing appears. Sorry in advance if there is a related post that I have missed.

If I am doing this correctly, you are viewing your music in Songs view with the column browser open. Below the column browser you'll notice that you have a "list view"-esque display of information. If you don't have it already, add the Year column and then sort by that.
I am in the iTunes Store, looking at a particular artist and want to view the albums in order of release date. I have no problem doing this with my own library.
