I'm trying to back up my iphone to the icloud for the first time. I'm on a network that blocks ftp sites and my backup isn't working. The person who runs the network said that if it is hitting an ftp site, that would be why it isn't working. Does anyone know what kind of connection it is using? Thanks!

Nope not ftp, there are way more that person that run network is not telling you it blocks. Check that article out it give ports that icloud uses. If it does not make sense to you, show it to network guy.

Thanks for the info. I see FTP is listed on these, but more than likely it is another port that is being blocked.
The reason I know it is not FTP, cause FTP is not encrypted, and icloud is, both ways. Ftp does not require continues authentication, and icloud does.
does icloud use an ftp connection when backing up a phone or ipad device to icloud?
