With OS10.7.5, Safari has suddenly stopped working, giving the screen "Safari quit unexpectedly" with pages of problem details . Firefox is still fully functional so the problem is not with my internet connection. Reinstalling the OS (from the thumb drive) has not helped nor has repairing permissions. Any suggestions?

If you can't resolve the problem, the next time Safari quits, please post a crash report in your Reply. The entire report.
If Safari has just crashed, press the Report button on the CrashReporter dialog box to view the crash information.
Now *copy/paste the entire contents* of the Crash Reporter window into your reply here. If the crash report dialog does not appear or the crash is hard to reproduce, crash logs can be retrieved from the ~/Library/Logs/CrashReporter> folder.

I took your suggestion of trashing Info.plist and reinstalling Safari from Apple's website and that did it!! Thanks for that great suggestion! What I still don't understand is why that didn't work when I reinstalled the entire Lion OS from my thumb-drive.
🙂 that was unexpected, I just linked to show you a typically sized report... I'd have to guess that reinstalling didn't replace newer files - the crash reports may confirm that.
