Q: I have an iphone 4 and I'm trying to call a family member with an ipad.

From what I can tell, my facetime on the phone is set up correctly.  We're both on wi-fi networks.  It says "Connecting" but after a few moments it says "Connection Lost".  I tried facetiming to a friend with an iphone4 and had the same problem.  The front and rear facing cameras are working.  What could be the problem?

I agree with Tim.  Sometimes, like if your wifi network is one from a hotel or something, it has trouble working.  Since your on an iphone, maybe try using cellular instead of wifi and see if it still is a problem?  If not then your wifi has some sort of issue.
