Setting up Apple ID with gmail account, I get message that email is already in use. I have used that gmail account for over a year...should I close it, get a new gmail account and start over with Apple ID?

Could that gmail account some other Apple Ids rescue email?? Like a siblings or an old Apple Id?
The same thing happened to me, but when I checked it, it said there was no existing apple id.
I would set up a new Gmail Account you can have more than one Gmail account I have two. Set account up first gmail then use for Apple ID Bsydd uk
This is a gmail account I synced with my iphone. I don't want to delete it permanently, but I'm getting the same issue: the apple ID for that email is "not available," however, when I go to find it, it doesn't exist. I'm not sure what's up with this mismatch. Any other leads on resolving it?
