I was told by the geek squad at Best Buy that I should do a system recovery to my mac. I don't have a disk. they said I could go through Applecare for free, but I can't. If I am going to pay I'd rather take it to BB. Can I do this for free online?

I was told by the geek squad at Best Buy that I should do a system recovery to my mac for $100 or something like that, or do it at home with a recovery disk or call Applecare. I don't have a disk. they said I could go through Applecare for free, but I can't they charge $19.99 just to ask a question. If I am going to pay I'd rather take it to BB where I know it will be taken care of and I don't have to worry about screwing it up. Can I do this recovery for free online?

Because it is running very slow. I had upgraded to mountain lion, and imovie 11. I don't know if that is what made it slower, but it is slow. Slow to boot up, to shut down and everything in between. Much slower than when I got it.

I am just worried to recover because of losing software, like my microsoft products. I can't seem to find my disk for Exel/Word.
