Q: iPhoto 9.1 or later is required to install this update.

Hello Apple,

Unfortunately my iPhoto deleted from my mac. I didn't remember which version previously i've used. So, i have downloaded the iPhoto 9.4.3 from Apple Official website page - http://support.apple.com/kb/dl1650 After, completing the download process and when i tried to install that dmg file. Its giving error like below

iPhoto 9.1 or later is required to install this update. How can i fix this? Should i need to download iPhoto 9.1 or later to fix this?

You need to install iPhoto form the original source - what you downloaded is simply an update and without the application installed there is nothing to update -

No one but you knows that - it is either the restore disks that came with your ocmputer, the iLife upgrade DVD that you purchased or the App store under purchases depending on what the original source was for you

    To re-install iPhoto

    1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)

    2. Download it from the App Store to reinstall It's on your Purchases List there.

For older versions that have been installed from Disk you'll need these additional steps:

2a: On 10.5:  Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name.

2b: On 10.6: Those receipts may be found as follows:  In the Finder use the Go menu and select Go To Folder. In the resulting window type

    /var/db/receipts/

    2c: on 10.7 or later they're at

    /private/var/db/receipts

A Finder Window will open at that location and you can remove the iPhoto pkg files.

    3. Re-install.

If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.

If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only.

    Xin chào mọi người !!!
Mình xin chia sẻ một cách cũng rất hay như sau:

    1. Mình đã cài đặt iPhoto trong iLife 11.(nhưng cài đặt các phiên bản updates cũng bị lỗi: "iPhoto 9.1 or later is required to install this update")
    2. Mình sử dụng applications PlistEdits Pro để chỉnh sửa.

If you are running OS X 10.10.3 or newer you can download photos from your iPhone using the Photos for Mac application. Or you can download photos from your iPhone using Image Capture. This application comes with every Mac: In El Capitan it is in the Applications folder, in earlier OS X version it may be in Applications > Utilities.

Apple stopped selling iPhoto. You cannot buy it any longer from Apple. If you previously owned iPhoto it may be in your Purchases history.  Look at the forth tab "Purchases" at the AppStore.
