Q: My screen flickers in Photoshop on my 2013 Macbook Air.

I just got the new Macbook Air 13", when I use the brush tool in Photoshop CS6 and it goes over 100px my screen starts to flicker wildly, its completly unusable.

 

Ive tried turning the graphics card prossesing on and off, basic, advanced etc... Nothing works.

Any ideas?

I found the issue it was OSX, I just upgraded to Mavericks and the problem has gone!

 

Crazy, it was a very annoying bug, it made photoshop almost unusable!

    The last patch installed today (12E3067) solves the problem. But it still flickers a bit (only the canvas) while i'm playing a youtube video on Chrome. Anyways, good job.

    Hello gguvid, can you just maje a quick test just to check if it's resolved?

     

    The actual problem with photoshop flickrring starts after the first sleep mode (the first time you close the laptop,open it again and restart working on photoshop)

     

    Can you tell us if the flickering does not occur anymore even after the first sleep mode?

    Yep, it works perfectly even after waking up the laptop. Only when the mission control animation ends and photoshop comes foreground sometimes it does a single flicker, the other case is what i said in my last post.

     

    But you can use photoshop normally with this patch .

    yep this worked for me. Had major flickering issues using large brush tool in Photoshop CS6 on macbook air. this update solved it!

    TL;DR: The fix worked for me BUT my machine was still broken, unbeknownst to me. Convinced an Apple Store manager to replace the hardware for me.

     

    I held out with my original hardware and hoped there would be a fix, despite quite a negative experience on the phone with Apple Customer Support that contradicted everything in this thread. (This was Adobe's problem, nothing they could do, and indeed there was no fix scheduled to go out). Talk to a higher-up you say? This WAS the higher-up.

     

    The fix came out, Photoshop worked fine. A month passes, and I install my first game on this laptop (DotA2, via the Steam client). ***The same glitch is back now, but in the game***. It's also more sporadic and thus harder to reproduce. It happens more in hot environments than in cold.

     

    I notice it happening with Google Hangout video chat as well.

     

    Luckily, I grabbed video of it happening before it crashed. Unluckily, I couldn't reproduce the issue at the Apple Store. But, between this photo evidence, and being very lucky in convincing the manager there to use his discretion to replace the machine.

     

    If you plan to ever play games, use video chat, or any other graphics-intensive programs on your machine, I would seriously consider testing this out now before it gets any later.
