How do I update my G4 10.5.8 to 10.6 when my computer says no updates are available?

How do I update my G4 10.5.8 to 10.6 when my computer update page says my software is up to date? (It is NOT). My new iphone 5 won't work unless I install the new Itunes version which is not compatible with my current version....

Mac OS X 10.6 isn't compatible with a G4 or G5 Mac; therefore, an iPhone 5 can't be synced with it.
