Movie download on PC will not play correctly

After 15 minute download of an iTunes movie. The movie hangs up and pauses like it's stuck and then when it begins to play again it's in fast motion until it catches up to where it left off and the video and audio are no longer in sync. Anyone know how to make this thing act right?
