Unable to join Mac to Active Directory 2003

I am looking ahead for your help and suggestion to get this fixed. I am unable to add Mac machine to AD using the dsconfigad command in the terminal. Here is the syntax I am using

sudo dsconfigad -domain example.com -u username

Once I hit enter, it ask for a network credential.

This is the error message on 10.6.8 "You provided a user name and password combination that is invalid. You should check the user name and password and try again."

When I try to bind on 10.7.5 to AD the error is :Authenticated server encountered an error while attempting the requested operation. (5202)

I have made sure the date and time are setup properly on the Mac. However, I am able to add the Mac machine to AD from System preference with no issue on either of Mac running 10.7.5 or 10.6.8.
