Jun 19, 2013 11:27 AM in response to leonhart1981by Old Toad,You might look at SyncPhotos. It can sync photos between two libraries. However, it only syncs original photos and not any metadata like keywords or edited versions. iPhoto Library Manager is needed to get all of the "extras" included with the photos.

Aug 8, 2013 9:35 AM in response to Old Toadby mkvalsvik2,I just got back from vacation in Spain, and I had brought my camera and my Macbook Pro with me. But I keep most of my photos on my Mac mini at home.
SyncPhotos worked beautifully. I installed it on both my laptop and my home mac, waited a little while for it to index/find all my photos, and then used the manual sync feature to move all the photos over to my home Mac.
Because of the smaller HD size in the Macbook I prefer to keep photos on my home Mac only. But sometimes I want to sync my camera or my phone/iPad to my Macbook. Now with SyncPhotos I can do both.

No.
To sync aPhotos libraries between two Mac one would use the iCloud Photo Library feature. However, this will require purchasing enough iCloud storage space to hold your Photos Library. It also will take some time, can be up to 2 weeks, to initially upload the library to iCloud Once done any change or addition to the library on one Mac is replicated in the cloud and on the other Mac.

Aug 15, 2015 10:12 AM in response to Old Toadby SilverBandit,I was looking to avoid using iCloud, don't want to take on any monthly instalments no matter how small. Not keen on the iCloud philosophy, I think this is a slippery slope and a trend we're seeing too much of in my opinion. Any other options?

Aug 15, 2015 11:10 AM in response to SilverBanditby Old Toad,You could use the My Photo Stream on both of the Macs. That would add any new photos added to either Mac's library to the MPS and import them into the other library. The iPhoto/iCloud preference pane would be configured like this:
There are no monthly charges required to use the My Photo Stream feature.
