icloud as a backup utility

I need to upgrade the operating system on my PC to Windows 7 and I'd like to use this opportunity to transfer my music library from my PC to icloud.

I currently have an ipod classic an ipod nano, and an ipad mini.

Would anyone with experience in this area please share their thoughts with me? If I delete a file from my pc after it has been uploaded to icloud, will it remain safely stored in the cloud? Thank You!
