I purchased the ipad 4/retina diplay 64 GB model today and i need a compact flash card reader that works with it.
has anyone had any luck with this??

If it's for transfering photos from your camera, why not use the USB cable.

But Diovonex is correct, use the standard Camera Connection kit and transfer them from the camera directly as described in this other thread.

@Diavonex: thank you. good idea. but i need the ipad for backing up while on location. Often i don't have a lot of time with a person i'm photographing so can't really pause between cards to back up because i need to shoot! But, also, don't like to wait until the end because if there was an error with a card or something, i can't go back and shoot when subject is gone..
For less critical times, the camera to ipad seems like a great idea!
