Jun 18, 2013 9:53 PM in response to Diavonexby ShakesKcS,Depending on what kind of mixing console you're using, I have experienced no problems using the old fashioned RCA to 1/8 connector directly into one of your ST outs or AUX sends. Of course you would need an extra outlet to charge with. Make sure the cable is of good quality, one from Monster Cable is a good option.

Jun 19, 2013 9:05 AM in response to ShakesKcSby Dougboat,All of the above suggestions were helpful, but perharps I need to add some details to my original post. I have used the 1/8" earphone out to a 1/4" input to my PA system, but the quality of the sound is very limited by the cheap D/A converter in the iDevice (enter pod, phone, touch, or pad).
I want to use the higher quality backing tracks I have created in Garageband and Logic for live performances. I export these songs to iTunes and then use iTunes to play them. As such I want Apple Lossless quality sound from the device. My understanding is that the highest quality can be acheived by retrieving the digital sound from the 30 pin connector instead of the analog headphone output. I have an iPad 1 and am looking for a quality interface between it and the PA system which has either 1/4", XLR, or RCA inputs available.

Nov 11, 2013 9:08 PM in response to Dougboatby kimbodious,Yes, you get far better sound via a direct out. We use a Sendstation product (Line Out USB) for exactly the purpose you are talking about. Fabulous little gadget I can thoroughly recommend it and assure you that the improvement in sound quality is evident. There was a marked drain on the battery when we used it on the iPod Nano but no noticeable added battery drain with the iPad. I am devastated right now because I seem to have lost ours and will not hesitate in ordering a replacement..
