I can't pause an iOS update. If I try pausing it loses all progress and has to start from scratch.

I am trying to update a newly purchased iPad 3rd Gen from iOS 5.1.1 to iOS 6.1.3.

I can't pause an iOS update. If I try pausing it loses all progress and has to start from scratch.

This is vital because I have a very slow internet connection that times out sporadically.

Thus, whenever the inevitble occurs, I don't want to lose my progress, rather I want iTunes to just pause it and continue whenever connection resumes.

Connect to a public WIFI hotspot and update from there.

1.1GB in a public hotspot in South Africa... that will be quite expensive...

There's no free hotpsots???? What about your employers network? Or the nearsst Apple Authorized service provider or retailer? Think man, think...

lol there are free hotspots, but usually only the first 100-250mb. My employer will murder me if i download 1.1gb, also my itunes is on my home pc, so that wont work. I went to the apple store to update and they wanted to charge me $20, so i laughed and walked out.

But, on a lighter note, my internet decided to work again properly yesterday, so I was able to update without interuptions! yay! 🙂 I think they might've been busy with infrastructure upgrades in my area, because my ping time also seems lower. Thanks for the suggestions anyway!
