changing programs that open automatically

I keep getting Quickview opening when I start my computer. The icon shows in the dock. Can I change the settings as to what opens on starting? I did hide things from the dock the other day, but cannot find that window again!

Thanks,

Adrian

In Mountain Lion and Lion, ny application that is open when you shutdown will re-open on restart unless you deselect the tick as shown in this window that is presented on shutdown/restart. It's part of The OS's 'Resume' feature.

Also check, System Preferences>Users & Groups>Login Items tab and make sure it's not located there as a startup item.

If the box isn't checked, applications that are open at shutdown/restart shouldn't relaunch at boot.

I hope the weather improves by the time you get here - it's the coldest, wettest summer since records began, apparently. 14 degrees today and we're only an hour from the Spanish border. Floods in Lourdes and a lot of the region is on 'Vigilance Rouge' for another 24 hours 😟.
