iPad SD Card Reader supports SD standards up to SDHC, miniSD and microSD with adapters, and MMC.
SDXC is not supported.

Plus, it isn't covered in Apple's CCK spec, but the iPad apparently won't read any SD card sizes larger than 32GB.
