Q: signal strength great but still stops

If you have a 3rg Gen ATV and the serial# fits this description,

"The last four letters of the serial number must be DRHN"

"The fourth and fifth alphanumeric characters of the serial number must contain one of these pairs;

H9, HC, HD, HF, HG, HH, HJ, HK, HL, HM, HN, HP, HQ, HR, HT, HV, HW, HX, J1, J2, J3, J4, J5, J6, J8, J9"

Then it's probably a problem device. Apple knows about the issue but dosen't seem to want to tell anyone or even admit, according to some, that the issue even exists!

Take it to an Apple store and they should replace it.
