Q: Archived emails disappeared?

The other day my computer was running slow and I double clicked a button while in my mac email account not knowing if it registered and suddenly my entire history disappeared all archived emails that I saved. I have difficulty figuring out what happened, I didn't delete it? Any idea how I can get these emails back?

Appreciate any suggestions, ideas. Thanks

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.4.11)

Where was this archive stored, On Your Mac or in an online account?

Which button did you double click?

On the server, I wasn't aware you could back them up unless you had set up an archival system prior?

Using the archive button in mail? is that how mad it?

What version of OSX are you using, who is your email provider?

It is my mac email account, and my service provider is Charter Cable
