bookmark in kindle app doesn't work

That would be an issue probably best taken up with Amazon's support. Perhaps something in their documentation will help:

It does work, but you have to check "my places" before you close the app to be sure it was recorded. What they appear to have screwed up is the visual bookmark. Very annoying. I don't understand how Amazon could mess up such an obvious and essential feature. Maybe they'll fix it in the next update?????

I just "fixed" it. Go to the App Store and find Kindle app. Click on "update"

I don't know why it didn't show as an automatic update, but it did update the app the the bookmark now works normally.

I have updated my kindle app and the bookmark STILL does not work!!!!

I've got Kindle app v4.0 and I thought the bookmarks in my Kindle app on iOS7 didn't work as well, i.e. in terms of not finding a list of them. That was until I discovered the third icon from the right, on the top, gives access to the list of bookmarks as well as highlights and notes. So I think the real problem is in not making it obvious.

But it does work.
