What backpack should I purchase?

Hi everyone,

I just recently purchased a 13.3" MacBook Pro to take with me to college this coming fall, and I was wondering what backpack I should purchase to keep my computer safe and all the books I might need neat and organized. My MacBook has an incase hard shell on it, so any adjustment regarding size is necessary. Style isn't quite a selling point for me, and price isn't particularly either, although I would like to keep the backpack from being extremely expensive. Thanks for your time, and I appreciate your help, any reccommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks again!

I admit that I normally "kill" backpacks quickly. I would go through them about one each year until I got my first "SwissGear" backpack about 6 years ago. I used it for 5 years before I finally needed to replace it. After replacing it, I've used the replacement for nearly a year and it still looks fairly new. SwissGear claims to be made by the same company that makes "Swiss Army Knives", so if you like their quality, you might look into the backpacks. They are not the cheapest, running $90-120 for the ones to hold a 17" notebook like I have.

As someone else mentioned, you don't really want your backpack to scream "steal me because I have a computer in me" to potential "opportunists", so perhaps consider other style bags instead.

I'm also usually pretty gentle with my backpacks, so I was very surprised to see that the last one I owned, which was in fact also a SwissGear, got destroyed within a school year. Of course, I used it with rigor, and I got a much cheaper version, so that couldn't have helped much. Anyways, I might choose to stray from SwissGear for a while, but perhaps I've been persuaded to "go big or go home" and get a higher quality backpack. Anyways, much thanks for your help, I will certainly take your advice into consideration.

Thanks again,

David
