I made a 20 min slideshow with videos & pictures for my daughters All Star team party. I cannot figure out how to save it in a way that I can play it for our party. We will be using a projector, with either a dvd player or a macbook connected to it. Can I share it someway? I made it on my imac, but don't know how to share it. I also have icloud if thats a possibility.
I just did exactly this & I'm getting a message that says it cannot do complete the request because the item cannot be found. What does that mean? I did EXACTLY what you said. When it brings up the menu as to where to export it, I clicked desktop. Is that right?
Export your slideshow as a video:
iPhoto will now render a video file to your Desktop. Be prepared to wait for several hours for this rendering to finish.
Save this videofile to a thumbsdrive or a data DVD to be able to show it on the macbook.
Or burn a video DVD to be shown in the DVD player. You will need a a special burn program to burn a video DVD: iDVD, Toast, Burn to name a few.

When exactly does this message appear?
Directly after you press the export button or later?
not right after... maybe 5 mintues. It show the bar like its trying to export it, then I get the message.

That can mean, that one of the photos in your slideshow can not be used, because the original file cannot be found. Or a font or other parts of the themes are missing.
It would help to have the exact error message. Do you remember what kind of item "cannot be found"?
it doesn't say which item. They are all pictures & videos that I have taken on my iphone or pictures I was emailed from others.
Then check each image and video in the slidshow. The item in question must be at the very beginning. Try for each item, if you can enlarge it and open it to edit it or if you can play the video.
If you find one, that cannot be opened or plyed,remove it from the slideshow.
I don't know what it could be. I have played each video over & over. I also have tried to edit each photo like you said.

Does your slideshow play well, when you preview it in full screen mode?
And where is your iPhoto library stored? On an external drive or in your pictures folder?
it plays well in fullscreen, although sometimes the videos are a bit delayed. My iphoto library is on my computer. Not on an external harddrive.

How large is your iPhoto Library?
If your friend has ithe same Photo version, you could copy your iPhoto library to an external drive or a thumbsdrive and connect the drive to the iMac, then play it from there. You can delete all events that have not been used for the slideshow from the copy.
The external drive must be formatted MacOS X Extended (Journaled) ) and the
"Ignore ownership on this volume" flag, to avoid permission problems when accessing the iPhoto library from different user accounts.
Is your library on a shared network volume? The error message suggests that. Then etwork problems will account for the trouble with the slideshow.
I iphoto library is too big to do this (over 30,000 pics)
How do I know if the external drive is formated this way? I have recently had a new hard dive installed in my computer. (For more space) Could this be the problem?
