Why can't I play songs from my purchased list. I get a "locate file" prompt

I had a pop up for a new/upgraded version of iTunes and selected to install it. Since then, I can only play a few of the 11 songs I have so far. The others bring up a box that asks if I want to "locate file". I had tried to duplicate the songs into another folder and then to the iTunes library. I still cannot find some of the songs and can't get them to play. Help!

Hey Paula

If you are getting the locate file prompt, it means that the location of the files have been moved and iTunes does not know where it went. The following article will assist with locating the files. If the songs are purchased from iTunes, then the next step would be to delete the file and then go and download purchase again.
