imovie 11 limits Snap to beat to just one song - and it has to be the first one?

I hope I am wrong and throw this out to the expert community. It appears that if you want to snap clips to the music beat you can only do this to the first song. If, like me you make movies from home video and wish to sync clips to music later in the movie, or on several songs - you can't.

This is disappointing and linits the program to basic editing.

I guess ill have to check out adobe or an alternative, but I dont want to pay a fortune - any ideas
