Brand new and need help

I have a few questions on how to work ibook author. I have read in other threads that you get the "page turn effect" by making a pages document an epub file. I have done that and have uploaded the file into ibooks author. I am not sure if it has made the turn effect or not quite yet. My main problem, I want the manual I am working on to look just like a regular book in ibooks. I want to be able to change pages and when the device is flipped into portrait mode I want to still turn the page. Right now everything is just scrolling through no pages whatsoever. I am also having a problem with the formatting. I chose the "classic" look and it comes with all these photos that I have to delete and a tan background I cant get rid of. I need so much help and dont even know where to begin. Anyone want to help walk me through different processes?

iBooks Author generates a hybrid epub -- an .ibooks file.

The page turn animation is done by iOS, automatically for an .epub file. Pages can output those, as an example. iBA cannot.

You can create a background that shows a spine and page edges etc. and use that with an iBA book that is landscape only if you like, but you cannot get the page turn animation and flipping in Portrait that you want. IBA navigation is slide, scroll and jump, only.

All these photos that you have to delete are placeholders on. The free templates are there to allow use and learning. They have a design layout in place - which looks attractive.

If you pull down the sliding "Books" panel left of screen, it reveals the template.

Its advisable BEFORE starting into a serious project to edit any of the templates you decide to use.

Everything can be changed and its better to change in the template for uniformity and it also saves time making the changes everytime you insert a new Chapter, section, pages etc,.

Changing from Landscape viewing to Portrait requires you insert your content accordingly.

I find its better to start with a "practice" book and hit and solve problems before setting out the final project.
